My vets recommendation. "Feed a mid priced food that is readily available, avoid the really cheap and really expensive". He feeds Purina Pro Plan. but used to feed Eukanuba to his pack. I feed Nurtiscource, and have fed PPP.
I live in the west metro and enjoy it but if I were to do it over I should have gone a few miles further west out to avoid being in Hennepin county.
Greenfield, Delano etc would be on my short list.
Update on Doc. AKA as simply bragging
Last Friday Doc became Qualified All Age (QAA) with a second place finish at Hennepin County Amateur Retriever Club's OHQ. The only dog able to beat him was an 8 year old Lab from smokey Canada!
The Next Morning we ran Arrowhead HRC's test up on the Iron...
Pheasants are notorious for causing mouthing problems as compared to ducks. I think a few things cause this, but number 1 are feathers coming loose in the dogs mouth.
Imagine running a marathon followed by a sprint, and then you get a mouthful of feathers not a Gatorade
I'm not sure what scoped means. Was it repaired or just looked at?
I was diagnosed with a radial tear of my meniscus, for a short term fix they gave me a shot of cortisone. I have been pain free for about 18 months now. The doc says the tear will not fix itself but what the heck it feels good.
X2
The Ryobi fans are the bomb. The 4ahr batteries will run all day on low, and probably 5 or so hours on high. I hang them on the kennel door upside down with a simple hook from the hardware store.
I spent a lot of time in Froid before the oil rush. My info is dated but, avoid anything named Hobby Horse! The Sparks BNB was terrific but I believe Darnell Sparks has passed. The Ball Field in town had primitive camping. The Mint/annex serves a good drink and a decent pizza. The 8 ball in...
When I was a kid I remember crushing 5 gallon steel Paraquat cans with a tractor (Oliver 1955 MFWD) so they could go to the scrap recycler. We only use Paraquet 1-2 seasons if I remember right. I don't worry about Parkinson's but when ever I hear Paraquet I start thinking again.
Iowa is making huge improvements, SD is better today than five years ago (not 30), and I think MN is getting better. It is all about habitat, habitat, habitat, and mild winters. But great habitat can minimize the effects of a harsh winter.
How to make a better marking dog, what I or anyone in retriever competitions would pay to know the answer :).
Without seeing what's happening in person its pretty tough to tell if its a problem or just enthusiasm.
Make your marks hard to get to but easy to find once they get there. IE Throw...
Central Minnesota Retriever Club had a gunner kennel in a raffle this weekend so I got to look one over closely. The door is better than what Rufland, or Dakota offer. It has a nice drain just like the Dakota, no drain on a Ruffland. The tie down points while different from a Dakota offer...
