    Accidental Pheasants in W Kansas

There is no benefit from irrigation. The walnut is bone dry in Ness and Rush county, it has all been sucked out to irrigation. When they drain the Aquifer, it will be worse than the other disaster they created in the dust bowl. They have also sprayed everything. Not only have they sprayed...

    Brood Reports?

Talked to biologist today who just finished up a brood survey. In some area's they are seeing more than last year. However, in the county where I live and the county to the west they are not. He said we are still in D2 and that emergency haying and grazing has begun which will make it worse.

Workout / train (humans, not dogs) for upcoming season

I lift weights year-round. I also teach PE, so I am very active during the school year. On an average day, I get 13-15 thousand steps in at school.

NEWS FLASH: Drought ends at Ponderosa

I have not seen any pheasant chicks. Farmers are now spraying all the way to the road. No cover in the ditches. Been like that the last 2 years.

    High protein and organ failure?

I think you would like the benefits of supplementing with fish oil. To be honest, I feel like I short-changed my dogs all those years by not giving it to them. The benefits far outweigh the cost. It is terrific for joint health, a shiny coat, healthy kidneys, a strong immune system, and a...

    High protein and organ failure?

Browndogs that is going through a lot of food. I get about 5 weeks out of a 35 lb bag. 2 cups per dog a day. Both labs 56 lb female and a 68 lb male. 4 squirts of fish oil per dog daily.

    High protein and organ failure?

No they don't need it. Like I said, I know that my dogs fair much better on the 26/16 with a supplement of fish oil vs just straight 30/20. I fed 30/20 Pro Plan for more than 25 years and switched to 26/16 with a supplement of fish oil 4 years ago. I feel I have much better coats now than I...

    High protein and organ failure?

If you will read, I said the causal hunting dogs do not need a 30-20 dog food. I also said that if someone is running field trials, then yes a 30-20 is justified. I didn't mention any scientific studies. Obviously, you do more with your dogs than the average hunter so feed away. For guys like...

    High protein and organ failure?

No weekend hunting dog needs to be on a 30/20. If you are competitive in field trials then yes. But not the average hunting dog.

    High protein and organ failure?

My dogs always gained weight on a 30/20 in the off season, even when I cut back on the amounts. The worst thing you can do is to allow your dog to go over weight, even if it is only by a few pounds. And most every dog I see is over weight.

    High protein and organ failure?

These are casual hunting dogs, not dogs that are running the Iditarod. They don't need a 30/20 feed.

We are still in D2 Severe Drought here in my county. If we could get a good rain this week it will change.

    Hunting Kansas

I would wait and see the pheasant forecast and see what areas get emergency grazing and what area's don't. NW generally always has more birds.
