Thinking about a new gun, suggestions?

I have a Maxus II wicked wing. Soft shooting but I much prefer the Benellis.

Thinking about a new gun, suggestions?

I have both a Benelli new model Montefeltro 12 and a new model M2 20. Both great guns. If I were wanting a gun to shoot both upland and waterfowl I would go with an M2 in Gore Optifade Timber 12 gauge. I love mine and it is a fine looking gun...

Last year was actually the best hatch we have had in the last 10 years. I would say this years hatch is comparable to last year.

    Group hunting

I thought you wanted to keep this going since you keep responding. Your group of 7 isn't the same as a group of 50. I thought that is what we are talking about. A group that kills 150 plus birds in 2 days. Surrounding a section so a bird has no escape route, isn't fair chase hunting, I...

    Group hunting

You can give anyone a bird, you just can't shoot them for someone else once you have reached your limit. My son wasn't a seasoned hunter when he was young, so I would leave my gun in the truck in hopes he would get the best shots.

I guess I don't follow your logic. Your wife is definitely entitled to a bird a two.

    Group hunting

"Party Hunting" is not legal in many states so it isn't odd to have an opinion on a controversial way of hunting. That doesn't mean you can't hunt in a large group, but let's face it, any large group is really party hunting. They just divide up the birds at the end of the day. Someone who...

    Group hunting

In 1984, me and 3 friends joined up with a big group that was staying at the same hotel as us. Must have been 20 of us walking in a line with blockers on the side and at the end. A rooster got up flew parallel with the walking line I was on. I shot and so did everyone else. There is no way...

Saw a brood today that was probably 3-4 weeks old. Some of those nests didn't make it early.

    Group hunting

When you have no idea who shot a bird, it isn't hunting, at least for me.

    Group hunting

I don't know that I call a group a 20 or more hunting. For most of the large groups in Kansas, it is the only time they go all year.

    Group hunting

Every large group I have ever seen leave behind a mess. Water bottles, trash, etc. I have seen them park in the middle road and refuse to move until I confronted them. There is nothing about a group of 20 plus hunters surrounding a field that excites me.

    Montefeltro Likes/Dislikes?

Do you have the new Montefeltro Ultra Light or old model Ultra Light? The new model Montefeltro Ultra Light has a recoil pad twice as thick as the old model Ultra Light. I assume you are talking about the butt pad when you say stock butt. There is no recoil on the 20 gauge with heavy pheasant...

NEWS FLASH: Drought ends at Ponderosa

When I lived in Bazine, I would see the occasional rattlesnake.

I saw a nice brood of quail today. Good sized and great flyers so I am assuming around 6 weeks old.

As long as that cold raining week at the end of May and first couple days of June didn't kill early broods should be good. We dodged emergency grazing and haying for the first time in years.
