Changes to A400 Explor for old and cold hands

This is timely...was in SD 10 day's ago in very frigid temps. I swore several times at the puny safety, on the Benelli M2 and vowed to replace it asap. However, I'm not certain what would fit and who would install. Need to find a gunsmith as mine moved to OK.

    Vest suggestions

My right shoulder has been surgically altered, to about 40% wide. Therefore I need a plain fabric strap (Gamehide) ,as wide as possible. Any strap affair slides off what's left of my shoulder. I do insert a shoulder pad to keep it in place, which helps.

Doesn't "swamp collie" reinforce the Lab folks opinion? Not a very respectful name/identity...

    Helping a friend

I believe the "Puppy program" is for dogs at least 6 mo's of age. The trainer I use has pigeons on a long, light- weight string, but with wings cut. No discipline, just fun and birds for two weeks...and the introduce the gun. Basically they are ready to hunt; mine was in SD at that age and...

    Helping a friend

Guess I would echo Alaska Swamp Collie's remarks - let the dog get enthused and have fun with the live birds. Whether pointers or flushers isn't the process the same...getting them excited about birds.

In your text you refer to "gun conditioning" with a four-month dog. Assume you meant intro to the gun. My suggestion: have a professional deal with this training aspect. The introduction is done in careful steps when the dog is ready. Doesn't sound like this dog is ready! Good Luck!

    New Benelli M2

You mentioned in an earlier post that the M2 had been changed about a year ago...what changes did they make? Thanks

    New Benelli M2

Briley offers a choke tube that moved the POI down and to the left - it worked for me. I did fiddle with the shim kit - even made one of my own. "Designed to pattern high ...so you can" float the bird" - can you elaborate on this? And what does a larger bead accomplish? Thanks!

    New Benelli M2

Getting the shell into the chamber was my issue - had to have a gunsmith alter the shell catch...and this was a brand new gun!

    New Benelli M2

Glad you like your new gun. Have you patterned it yet? I have the same gun in black composite and have had problems: found it shoots high and to the left. And it was difficult to load...Just some observations and my experience with the gun.

    Dog siezures

My Golden that passed on last fall had seizures most of this life. Episodes lasted about five minutes. His body shook and his eyes rolled back.. Not a pretty sight and rather frightening for us. We stroked and talked to him and eventually he came out of it.

    2023/2024 Pheasant Hunting Videos

Bob, For me, less is better...too much talking/explaining sort of ruins the video experience. This is especially true, for me, when there's lots of yelling at the dog - repeating a command several times...
