    Shells? Bring Money

Couldn't really tell you. But you'll find that your premium hunting loads are going to be much more expensive than you paid say a year or more ago. You can buy ammo directly from Federal online. They list everything they sell whether it's in stock or unavailable. I will say some of the...

    Shells? Bring Money

Unfortunately those prices are here to stay for awhile. Combination of supply and demand along with rising inflation. Component costs are up and manufacturers simply pass on those increased costs to the consumer. I got a email reply from several ammo online dealers telling me the 9mm ammo that I...

Pup going to training for a month

That is not typical GSP behavior. Don't confuse high energy with hyper, not the same at all. Have you talked to the breeder? What are the litter mates like? Has this behavior been like this from day one?

Pup going to training for a month

Is this your first GSP? They are a very active breed and need lots of exercise as you probably have already noticed. They can get a little squirrely if they don't have a place to vent all that energy. I would have to guess he's probably just bored if chewing shoes at 1 year old. Get one of those...

Pup going to training for a month

Wondering about additional calories during hunting season

Meant to add as others did hydration. Can't stress that enough.

Wondering about additional calories during hunting season

Try adding some extra fat in their food. Dogs use fat more than anything else for sustained energy. Sardines packed in water is high in fat and protein. A tablespoon or two of Olive oil is extra fat. Or simply increase calories especially the night before a big hunt. It all boils down to...

    food

https://www.purina.com/articles/puppy/feeding/when-to-switch-to-adult-dog-food Purina is probably the leading manufacturer when it comes to spending money on canine nutrition and research. Puppy food is generally higher in calories then adult formulas as they are growing. However, there are...

    Which upland semi-auto for pheasant?

Hard to say what's available in these (Covid) times as there has been a run on gun sales of all types for the past year. But if your open to used then check out some of the online gun brokers. Beretta's are quality autoloaders, look for A390, A391 or possibly A400 in used as they usually (I...

    Supplements for joints

My Older GSP who now is almost 15 and now retired as of the end of 2019 season, used to get stiff after a long day in the field. I asked my vet to give me a supply of Rimadyl (nonsteroidal anti-inflamatory) for those days and nights where stiffness set in. It worked like a charm and most...

    Shooting High

Ok i just saw that you talked about buying a new gun. Being tall with long arms presents some issues for someone buying a gun off the rack. For one the length of pull may be too short and there may not be enough drop to comb. On most average hunting stocks if you add length this will add to the...

    Shooting High

Curious... is this the same gun you've been using for 20 years or did you recently purchase (as in a year ago or so) a new one? There could be many reasons for shooting high if that is in fact where your shooting. Gun fit and lifting your head are probably the most common issues.

    New to the MN Game

Preserves are having a banner year this year undoubtedly due to Covid. I'm betting many if not most will be running low or out of birds before long.

    Why full choke?

That could happen with a modified choke as well on a close shot. Full choke is at it's most use 35 yards and beyond. If one is going to use a full choke some self control is in order on a close flushing bird. Onethousand one.... onethousand two... onethousand three ..... bang. :)

    Why full choke?

I think what's being forgotten here with regards to choke is ammo. Hard spherical shot vs soft (less antimony) will determine how your choke performs more than any other factor. 50-60 years ago ammo was inferior to what can be purchased now days. A full choke model 12 from 1950 using the best...

12 ga. or 20 ga for pheasant?

12 Gauge has advantages in load selection/availability. That being said the right set up in 20 ga. will do the job admirably as well.

    Backup Gun Rant

Sometimes that thing between the ears gets in the way. you had confidence in your Beretta now you were forced to use a gun that you hadn't used for a while. Confidence is everything.
