    Beloit

GL Lointer! I was supposed to head out yesterday morning for a last hoor-rah run but those big snowstorms with mixed in ice made me think twice about the commute! Lol. I'll be heading out tommorrow morning with my german girls! (gsp's) Ky setter man-my brother did slam the door on a targeted...

    Not my day.

You win some. Lose some. Shake it off and get back after them... you still have a little time! This big storm coming might produce some opportunities for you to “get even”.

    Uncapped well, dog fatality

I encountered an uncapped well on an old farmstead this season. I sort of recognized what may be in front of me so I eased up cautiously - sure enough it was a deep and dark old well. About that time, my younger speed demon shorthair blew past me... I thought to myself, “I almost lost her”. Be...

    Tough hunting

I just got back. I went into my usual areas 3 weeks ago and got into a fair amount of roosters. I went back this weekend and after 2 days we put up one hen in 2 different areas that ive done well in this season. Decided to try a whole different area for our last afternoon. Got into some hens...

To sling or not to sling

I like long hunts where I’ll walk a long ways and I also hunt with pointing breeds. Therefore, slings on all my upland autos make sense for me.

    if you had $2500

I had a 686 that I wish I hadn't parted with. GL with your search-I would put "fit" in the forefront as far as which one to go with.

    GSP lost dog !!

ugh-really sucks! how do you reflect on all the years of hunting with your companion, take off his collar and drive away!!?? some people amaze me with the sh@# they do. I hope for both the owner and the dog that this is not the case and that they are re-united. Also-my hat off and a big thank...

I opted to skip this week due to the heat.... It's on come Tuesday!! Honestly, my gsp s are very well conditioned to the heat. Although, they will drink my 3 gal. water thermos dry everytime running bobs in our Texas heat . 🤣 I'll fill it every chance I can when I'm around a windmill. With...

    It’s not just hunters.

Good for you McFarmer-You did the right thing! I'm dissapointed with the way the game warden handled it...I promise you that treestand isn't going away on it's own!! the hunter wouldve been back. Meanwhile , the pheasant culprits were present and in the act!

    warm weather!!

I was going to head up to SD this week...till I looked at the weather. Mid 70's! are you kidding me?! :poop: I guess I'll wait another week🤣- got some weather coming in next week. Fingers crossed it isn't too much snow... I can't imagine these birds are holding very well in 70 degree weather....

    Hunting in rain?

I've done it...I'm sure I'll do it again. Won't do it in a downpour of course, but I won't stop hunting if it starts drizzling. How cold and windy can be a factor too-nothing worse than being miserable cold AND wet!

    Pheasant wings for training

the only time ive collected wings is when I knew I was getting a pup in the near future or a friend was getting one. I really only use them when a pup is 2-3 months of age. Once obedience work is done and we start doing field work-they don't see a wing anymore.

    A Day in the Field

Sounds like a great adventure-this is the thing I love the most about hunting upland birds with a dog! Sometimes you really don't know where you'll end up conducting or finishing your hunt! This always seems to happen when you follow up/pursue a bird that "got away" before you could actually...
