What are your plans this year?

we just don't have the birds around home this year(again) . This means i'll be doing all out of state this year. We had a great start in ND. I'll be going to SD a couple of times but most of my hunting will be in Ks this season.

    Bird cleaning in Mitchell

I try to age them a little. Unless I bust one pretty hard, I’ll leave them intact and refrigerate them for 4 or 5 days when I get home before plucking/ cleaning them.

    Sharpies and Huns

My brother and I left the Texas heat to run our dogs in ND last Monday. It’s a long ride from the Texas hill country to the north west corner of ND. The dogs were “losing their minds” by the time we got into ND. I decided to take the edge off the dogs and give us a chance to stretch our legs-we...

    Camping?

I’m sure it’s probably less crowded or at least more Peaceful on the prairie. Several times last year I pulled my cargo trailer into rv campsites. I was covered in oil and gas guys in Kansas once the sun went down! They didn’t bother me or my dogs though.

    Camping?

We are heading to northern ND on Monday for sharps and Huns. We will be hunting for 3 days. I want to try something different this year- we are thinking about camping. Are the city parks with camping a viable option? This all started with us wanting to try sleeping on the prairie. Any advice is...

If I roast them whole in the oven- I always prepare them in a liquid brine overnight. Makes a huge difference

Anyone planning to chase chickens ?

Thanks for the response KsHusker as I’m wondering if it’s worth doing in September. The heat is something I just don’t miss here in Texas! I may just stick with the Dakotas to kick off my season. I hear Nebraska has a good amount of chickens too....
