Post Your Residents' Weekend Report Here!

Brent, great report! Do you ever wonder what dogs think when fall comes around? Do you think they know there is a season opener and closing? Or do they just wonder why we are lazy and not taking them out hunting everyday?!

I don't know, maybe they did. But is was a great tool for my daughter.

    Shot string video.

Tuckr2 They do make one! I bought some "tracer" shot shelld for my daughter when she was shooting trap so she could see where her shot was in reference to the clay pigeon. They come in either black tracer or orage!

    Shot string video.

Great insight Brent. That was my thinking 10" at 40 yards, less at 25! But the thing I teach new shooters or new people to the game farm is that the shot string is real. What it teaches them is to lead a bird. Most point at the bird or under the bird as it rises and never hit the bird. Once they...

    First Montana upland hunt

Golden's have a great memory and a prey drive that won't quit if you have the right breeding. Glad you found some water to cool her down.

    Shot string video.

I watched the video as well. One question I have is this. Okay we all know a shot string is longer than just a round ball of pellets. But how quickly does that shot string go through a pheasant flying at a 90 degree angle to me? In other words what is my margin for error from the front of the...

About time for a new lab

Don't rule out a golden! I have some really nice pups on the ground right now. I have a buyer who is flying in from Colorado to pick up a pup, maybe they would be willing to bring one back with them for you as well. Give me a call or an email I would love to tell you about what we are raising...

    +++ Bird Dog Bunkhouse 2022 +++

Bobby can steer you in the right direction and give you plenty of options for places to hunt. He is a guy who shoots his limit almost daily on public land that is within driving distance from his place. He also provides meals to everybody when he is there for the month of November. To shoot a...

Keeping your dog healthy during the season

My dog water bottle came in the mail Saturday. It works great! Seems like a great way to get the needed water into their mouths in the field versus the way I have been doing it for years via a squirt bottle.

Semi auto or break action shotgun?

I went to an O/U to make myself a better shot. I feel I am a fair wingshooter and love the feel and weight of my O/U 16. But recently I have been looking at some semi-auto shotguns for upland hunting. I have plently of pumps and goose guns that shoot 3 1/2" shells. I am really contemplating a...

Keeping your dog healthy during the season

I always used a squirt botlle as well but wasted lots of water trying to get it down their throats. I will let everybody know how they work!

Experiences going from one bird dog to two?

Bob, I think you are getting some great info here. It all depends on the temperment of the two and if they will work together. I would encourage you to hunt both of them together whenever possible. I think you will probably see more birds. Try to get them to hunt independantly of each other...
