There is some good advise given here. Initially I was shocked that the guy admitted it and thought you wouldn't find out! Over the years I have gotten into a few situations where I didn't feel right hunting a particular spot never feels good and I usually just walk away from the land. It is no...
Thanks for the pic! Millie looks tired from all the action. I am sure you are going to love that drive next season as she matures and figures out those wild roosters!
I have a hunting buddy who just purchased a puppy from me. He has hunted over all of my Golden's and his favorite was my first dog named Ruby. Ruby was a small 45# budle of energy who never quit in the field. Fast forward a few years. I kept a pup I named Roxy out of Ruby. I kept a pup Reba out...
I guide a little bit at some game farms and one farm has a duck pass. Clients shoot ducks as they fly overhead. My girl Ruby had a big fat mallard in her mouth and was coming back to me. She is trained to deliver to hand. Another mallard gets shot and off she goes. About 3 minutes later she...
Sometimes I see people calling the dog and giving commands and walking around where the bird fell. I like to get the dog to the location if they didn't see it fall and let them use their nose. Be quiet and watch the majic!
Interesting concept. I like to look at ROI (return on investment) I could probably spend that 250K on a lot of hunts for the rest of my life and not spend it all. Partnerships can be tricky unless you know the others very well. I am interested in what others think of the concept.
Wind River, I love the looks of your Goldens. Do you mind me asking where you got them? I raise and breed Golden's and am always looking for good stud dogs. Nice job on the huns. Nothing better than watching a great field bred golden do their job with enthusiasm and style!
I have a couple of goldens and they are fine in the intermediate kennels. I had the large but switched so I could stack them in the back of my F150 supercrew. We can get them back to back and stacked and fit four dogs in the cab with us when we go hunting.
Welcome to the site. Most guys are very nice and helpful just ingore the others. Congrats on the SD trip, look for food/cover/water and there should be birds close by.
Food, water, cover. That is it. If you have food and cover but no water, birds will be scarce. Water and cover but no food, they can't survive. Water and food but no cover, the predators kill them.
