Switching dog food because of price and availability?!

I feed Purina Pro Plan and feel it is a good food for my goldens. But lately it is about impossible to find. Typically I get it at Menards but lately they never have it in stock. I checked with someone from the store today and they told me when they get it in it is usually only 4 bags and they...

    Dog's Name

I like something I can call in the field and not get grief from my hunting buddies. My family (wife and two girls never pick a strong name so usually I make that decision) My goldens all start with "R" Ruby, Roxy, Reba, Randi. My daughter named her pup Ginger. Let us know what you end up with...

    January Solo Hunt

If I need to shoot birds I go to the game farm and spend $100-$150 bucks. If I want the experience and memories I always go and hunt wild birds with a great friend or my brother. Those are the stories we tell for years. I can't put a price on that.

Typically they are darker red. You rarely find a blonde field bred golden.

    Scary Moment

MIke, I see how it happens. This is one of my worst fears, you send a dog into a cattail slough and they hit somebodies trap. Glad everything worked out fine and that your dogs are ok. Thanks for the heads up with the flagging ribbon. I will be watching for that now as well.

    Coldest hunt you've been on

My coldest hunt was in southwestern ND in Dec. there was a blizzard when we were driving out and the next few days the temps dropped and the wind never stopped. I remember it well because we had three flat tires on two trucks that hunt. I ended up with two flats. I had to find a place to fix my...

    Getting my first Bird Dog

What's wrong with looking at a Golden?!?! I have a litter due around Feb. 1st. I have 5 or 6 sold so far but I might have one available if we get a good sized litter. If not I have a couple of more litters planned for this year as well.

Loan your dogs to a buddy?

I usually run two dogs. I would love to send one dog with one of my hunting partners and I take the other one, but usually they only hunt for me. The biggest problem would be how to control them if they don't have a collar controller for the dog. I run both of my dogs off of one controller.

    The accidental pheasant hunter

Great story Bob. We forget how important those first few experiences are on a new hunter and how we can shape someones future hunting experiences!
