    Semi Automatic 20 Gauge Recommendations

I think the Mossberg SA 20 is imported by Mossberg, not actually made by them.

4, 5, or 6 shot for you early season pheasant hunters? And what choke are you shooting?

Semi auto I usually just run 5's. Double barrel with different chokes 7.5 or 6s first barrel shot 5 in the second barrel. Picked up some Winchester AA diamond grade 7.5 copper plated shells at 1250 fps. I think that will be my go to first shot this year.

    First sharptail hunt results

Good advice. I think my Pointer will do ok, my female short hair has it figured out. But with a young dog that doesn't see many wild birds you never know.

    First sharptail hunt results

Nice picture good looking dog. Sounds like they figured it out pretty fast. The only dog wild bird my has pointed is woodcock and one grouse which he may have bumped last year. We're head to Michigan in October, and then a pheasant trip in November hope he catches on as fast as yours did.

    First sharptail hunt results

Nice! Good looking pics I'm sure you would have liked to kill some more birds but still looks like a great trip. How did the dogs handle a new type of bird?

    GSP getting cut up

I have a female short hair that runs like that. If the cover is thick, or tall grass I put a vest on her. If the temps allow. My Pointer can run through the same cover and not have a scratch. The pointer has got into barb wire the last two years though...

Picked up my first 16 gauge and sxs

Did some pattering today. It's choked improved and modified even with today's ammo. ( Possibly skeet 1/skeet 2) I also took my 12 gauge Benelli along and shot the improved and mod, with similar loads to the 16 gauge to compare. Tried a few loads that I found at Cabela's and local store...

Picked up my first 16 gauge and sxs

Yeah it might get a little heavy. If I think, I will be out of the truck for a few hours or more I might grab one of the other guns. I guess the truck will be hauling 12 16 and 20 gauge shells all season.

Picked up my first 16 gauge and sxs

Bathroom scale said 7lbs even. The only info on weight I could find said 6lbs 10oz . It definitely feels heavier than my 12gauge 828u after holding them side by side. It also carries the weight more toward the front end.

Picked up my first 16 gauge and sxs

Definitely will be in the top two. I don't see my 20 gauge O/U getting used as much.

Picked up my first 16 gauge and sxs

I'm not sure it isn't stamped on the barrel. The gunsmith said it should be mod in full but he wasn't sure.

Picked up my first 16 gauge and sxs

Just picked this up fairly cheap at a local gun store. It seems to shoot pretty good, but won't win any beauty contest. Springfield 315 SxS 16 gauge anyone else on here have one?

    Snake bite

I just took my dogs to a snake breaking clinic a few weeks back. The gentleman that owns the snakes and does a S.E. reptile rescue, says don't bother with Benadryl and just get to the vet as as possible. I asked about the vaccination he said that was also a wast of time and money. Plenty of...

    Hunting 2 dogs

I have two dogs a Pointer and GSP. I like having two Incase one gets hurt or something like that. I do like hunting them alone though. They are both fast and it's easier to keep track of one dog at a time. Then I have a fresh dog for the next day or hunting spot.

Another Pickup question kennel size question.

I think I will like it. It was also cheaper than buying two back seat riders from Ruffland. I haven't had a box for a few years because I was driving a SUV. We will see how the dogs adjust since the current ones have never rode in a truck bed.
