Thanks for the info.

I know I have been a pest asking for general location of your hunts this season. Was unable to hunt this season and decided to try and chart the bird reports. Most of you guys have responded and I thank you, if you don't want to share your info to me, that's cool to.

What part of the state where you in? Not looking for exact location, but just charting bird reports. Do to health reasons, I have been a spectator this season, and decided to chart hunting reports. Thanks in advance

Fresh snow can be a blast to hunt in. Several years ago (30) , a friend of mine was tracking a rooster and the track went into a clump of weeds . He handed me his gun, and jumped on the bird, caught him before he could get away. On the other hand, crunchy snow sucks. They can hear you a mile away.

Lots of reports mentioned birds flushing wild. Tells me that those birds are very educated. Hold overs

I agree, to a point about habit loss. Farming practices need to change, to me, that's the most important thing. Way, way, back, didn't have very much CRP, Just stubble, stalks and weedy corners. Seems like most fields always had weeds, lots of fence lines full of birds. This isn't the first...

My buddies are back from a three day look around. Things looked bleak . t The last place they hunted was the most promising, back on the land we always hunt. First 10 minutes of the first walk, they saw and shot two roosters, hunted the rest of the day, never saw another rooster.

Well, is it as bad as it sounded? If you will be kind enough to post, please indicate what part of the State you are in. Don't want exact location just trying to get a sense of things. I'm disabled right now or I would of been out there amongst them myself. Thanks and good luck and be safe

No you are in the right. Most likely, since you were only 4 miles from your property, that you had scouted this crp and knew it held birds. ( which I think you said were really bad numbers) . most folks don't know how to be quite, how if you pull up and slam truck doors, hollering, and whatever...
