    Mckelvie National Forrest Trip Advice

I have not tried these, but I have a buddy in nd that swears by them. Made out of motorcycle inner tube. Best thing is every time you get a pup, start them out on boots when young

    Mckelvie National Forrest Trip Advice

2 of us hunted there about 12 yrs ago in early oct. For 3 1/2 days. Got rained out halfway thru the last day. We took 6 dogs & stayed in the horsemens part of the campground. At that time there was a warning not to drink the water as it had lead in it. Nice campground. I took the dishes in the...

    Spring Turkey

All pretty simple stuff. I like it best on the grill. I have cooked it whole, or filleted the breast, but it is best if you cut it into 1/2” thick slices. I have eaten it with just salt & pepper & rubbed up with butter. Now I rub it with avocado oil & season it with Goya adobo. I add some...

    Spring Turkey

Wow! I cant believe most of you posters dont like wild turkey. You must be over cooking it! Ruffed grouse & wild turkey are at the top of my list of wild birds to eat. I do throw the legs away. Wt way better than any store bought turkey. I have cooked it many different ways, all were excellent...

    Grouse and Woodcock tips

For grouse: If it is a good Beechnut year, concentrate on Beech stands near thicker cover, the thicker the better. Greenbriar & blackberry thickets. If you can find a thorn-apple thicket, it will be good for both grouse & woodcock. Abandoned apple orchards too. Find “flats” in the mts/hills...

    Multiple Bird guns for sale

Prayers for your family Patrick. For some encouragement, my mother was in her late 70’s & had breast, liver, & kidney cancer all at the same time. She passed last May at the age of 104! Yes I said 104 years old!

You do not say where you live. There are some excellent folks on this site. One of them might live in or visit your neighborhood, and would help you with some “hands on” advice. I would if you lived near me. Oregon, Ohio

    Long Distance Traveling for Birds

I would be more worried about salt holes in the aluminum skin from galvanic action.

    Long Distance Traveling for Birds

I am not sure how much road salt you will be encountering, but I just replaced the entire steel fame on my fiberglass dog trailer with an aluminum frame. My step kids had A trailer with an aluminum skin on a steel frame for their band equipment. After one winter in Ohio, it looked like it had...

I would think someone would want to cut the locust just for the firewood or posts.

    Vehicles

OK, but if u are going to buy a new vehicle, fuel mileage would be one thing I would consider, wouldn't you? I bought new superduty crewcab 4 x4, 8' box Fords every year from 1997 to 2005. The worst bath I took was that I lost about $1200 on one that I put 36000 miles on in 5 months. (About as...

    Your favorite pheasant O/U

Did you ever end up with an o/u? If not I also vote for the 686 ultralight, if you are going to stick with a 12. I have both the 28” tubed barrels & 24” sk & sk. 5.9 lb with the tubes, but I generally shoot the short ones. If a 20, I would try an skb in 20. I am not sure what the new ones are...

Ive got a bunch of lead #2’s….

Active went out of business, probably over 20 years ago. They were made in West Virginia. All plastic on the outside. SS under the plastic where most shells are brass.

    Snow birds…

I dont understand why you guys are so down on the geese. I would trade phez meat for goose meat any day. Much more tender & imho, tastier too. Not as dry either

    New to South Dakota

I used to hunt near Wanblee. Lots & lots of grouse, but u could kill your limit of phez too. I dont know if u can hunt that part of the state anymore without a native american guide & license. A lot closer for you
