    Eastern Oregon Chukar and Hunt

These are all Brownlee Reservoir birds. All public (BLM) land, wild birds and more coveys than could be counted. If you’ve never tried this country…..you should do it one time in your life.

    Golden retriever only photos

This is Oakley. She is the only Golden Retriever that I have ever hunted around and she was incredible. Her and my Griffon were one hell of a team on upland birds. She got cancer this last fall and died quickly. She was a remarkable retriever and one hell of a brush pounder on upland birds.

Another year shot to hell and time for January/February chukar hunting.

I guess lastly they only fly down hill, usually going faster than any other game bird that I have ever hunted. They are a pretty amazing bird to hunt. After every day hunting them, I feel like I’ve run a marathon

Another year shot to hell and time for January/February chukar hunting.

They like to live in as steep and rocky country as they can find and would rather run then fly and they only run in one direction, straight up and they don’t stop until they get to the very top of wherever they are. They then fly down…….all the way down, sometimes miles down. You really don’t...

    Hunting solo tactics

Well hell! I sincerely hope all of the loud hunters on this site are hunting just adjacent to where I’m hunting. I need all the help I can get and a few extra birds pushed my way by folks coaxing their dogs and BSing with each other doesn’t hurt my chances.

Another year shot to hell and time for January/February chukar hunting.

Well, all the easy hunting is behind me for the year and I’m reduced to chasing chukar for the next two months. It’s the only hunting that I do that truly pisses me off. However, it keeps me out of my wife’s hair, so I do it.

    Hunting solo tactics

Lots of great advice, I agree that being silent and hunting at your dogs pace are critical to being successful when your alone. I never hunt the same place twice using the same approach, ever. Pheasants seem to learn quickly.

    Post your pictures

lol. We hunt mostly BLM land. I grew up in the area so I have a little advantage. There was one spot that I hunted with my Dad in the 70s and 80s we stopped by this last weekend and it was just as good as it was then.

    Stevens 560 opinions, insights, experiences

Well, after a season of bringing the Stevens on multiple trips and running 24 boxes of shells through it I can tell you this gun is very reliable, easy to use and cycles shells 100% of the time even when dirty. It's a pretty shotgun and light and well balanced. I can break it down easily and I...

    New Strap Vest

I’m really happy with the vest. The zippered ammo design is actually pretty functional. The flap actually has a Velcro attachment on the inside of the pocket, so when you’re traveling I zip the pockets and when I’m hunting they are Velcroed. The material is a real heavy fabric and the game...
