Never looked into it but I didn’t buy my SD license until January of 25 and I’m pretty sure it expired at the end of the season. I’m probably wrong.

I know Iowa was that way for years and maybe still is.
 
You sir are correct. I just called them. That’s good to know as I only live 40 miles south of SD. I was going to go late last season but didn’t want to spend the money for just a day or 2.
