Strange things dogs do.

Monday while I was out hunting the dogs were sniffing around at something but really weren’t that into it. I called them to me and we kept hunting but my peake kept whining at me. she’s a talker anyway but I couldn’t help but think she was trying to tell me something . About that time she ran back and picked up and brought me a dead hen. It was the second one in the field and I knew exactly what she wanted to say.

What Roo goose is in town? Go find goose i🤣girl go find goose!

Someone gave me a nice-looking setter once. That crazy dog didn't give a crap about any kind of bird but would kill every snake he could find. I'd find him throwing the snake around just happy as hell. Gave him to some farm boys. They would take him snake hunting often. We don't have poisonous snakes here thank goodness. Also had a setter that if you didn't get to him pretty quick after he went for a retrieve, he would bury it before you got there. Other than that, he was a great dog. The only setter I've seen in person that was dark liver and ticked. I always wondered if he was half Irish setter.

More then once I have watched Willie side stepping hackles raised growling at something. Once a mailbox , once an old flannel shirt on a corner post , and oddly enough a dead tree he had seen 50× before in a creek bottom. Other times equally as funny.
Mine have never liked trash can or hoodies.

Burying it is classic!
I’ve had 4 but my first peake would eat smaller birds , doves, quail and even teal. I think she would swallow most of them whole. Only when out of sight and would come back empty handed. Never did it with pheasants but would crunch the backs.

A guy I knew had a GSP that had these really big weird nipples. It would lie around flicking them with his tongue. That's the most strange thing I seen a dog do. Too weird for me. I'll stick with labs or maybe a springer someday.

Not gonna lie. That's pretty odd. I've never seen labs tongue flick nipples, & I suspect they won't. But I can tell you a springer will not. They're usually too busy tongue flicking other things.

I just went on a local preserve hunt and one of the pointers would back up to the tallest grass and do his number 2 business. I watched that several times. Then of course scratching to cover it up.

I always get nervous when mine act that way, wondering if it’s a skunk, badger or Porkie!

My male lab did this every chance he got. He was also a "marker". I always figured it was his way of keeping the scent higher to signal his territory further distances. His favorite was a tumble weed and his scat would hang like Christmas ornaments. I would chuckle the first dozen times he does this. After a lifetime of this, it seemed strange that this wasn't normal. Until today, i had never seen another dog so this. Glad i didn't have the only stand dog.

Got my very first Weim well I was in college. I worked evenings and my roommate was always at home watching TV if he wasn't studying. One night that I had off we are watching a movie (from Block Buster😁) and the dog gets up and walks to the hall way and just stares at us. Roommate says dammit and leaves the room. I said what is going on? As the roommate responded the odor of a very strong dogfart hit me. He says the dog always does that.

That same dog would defecate into bushes but also into the holes of a cinder block laying on its side. He was easy to clean up after.
