Wet Crispi Boots

2nd year wearing a pair of Crispi Valdes. Anyone have experience with these getting wet insoles?? Walking in damp grass prairie grouse hunting and after 2 hours boots and feet are soaked. Starting to wonder if pant legs/socks are getting wet and wicking into the interior of the boots. Like a dummy I forgot my waterproof gaiters.

I have numerous pairs of Kenetreks and Crispi boots and have never had any issues with water in them. I have had water get in them but that's from crossing streams etc where the water goes over the top of the boots, but as far as walking in wet grass I have never had a issue.

I had a pair of Crispi Thors. The most comfortable boot ever out of the box, but leaked like a sieve.

Ive been wearing the new Crispi Upland Pros for a couple months including cool mornings w heavy dew. No issues w wet feet at all. They are the most comfortable boot Ive ever worn. Hope everything stays that way.

I think walking in wet grass for an extended time is the worst. I've never seen any boot (other than rubber boots) that would stay dry inside under those conditions. I doubt it's wicking in from the top.

Ive noticed that my crispis make my feet feel like theyre wet, but when I take them off-bone dry on the inside. It must be how amputees claim to still feel their limbs. My feet were so used to being wet from wearing Danners, theyre feeling phantom wetness.

I have a pair of Crispi Idaho GTX II and love them. I looked at the new Upland Pro this weekend at Scheel's and they look pretty awesome. I can't justify a new pair right now, but they are first on my list as replacements.

My West River Crispi boots wetted and out and leaked after walking through about 4-5" of snow for about 15 minutes. I had just bought them and didn't add any conditioner prior to using them just to see how well they they were waterproofed. Was very disappointed but I haven't had any issues after conditioning them with the Crispi cream. It left a bad taste in my mouth at first but have since purchased two more pairs (Lapponia II and Altitude GTX) and have had zero issues with them wetting out or leaking. I only stuck with them because they fit my feet very well but anytime I see someone looking at them at Scheels I try to mention the importance of buying some conditioner so they don't get any surprises with wet feet.

Yes, wet pants will soak your socks and the water will wick and make the inside of the boots very wet. Also, the wet grass can ride up under even waterproof pants to soak the exposed sock.

Most likely your gaiters would have prevented both problems.

Looking for some Upland Pro reviews.. I brought the Crispi Shimek’s last year and they were the most comfortable boot I’ve ever worn when temps were right (above 50 my feet would sweat and feel damp).

Looking to grab a pair of upland pros in hope they can be my boot of choice above 50 degrees.. I know damn well given the reports of good bird numbers I’ll be making the trek out to SD a little earlier this season. Hoping these boots are living up to the Crispi standards..

Any info good or bad is appreciated.

see my post above. I have zero complaints so far. Doubt I will.
They did run a tad small on me. I usually wear an 11 but these are perfect at an 11.5. YMMV

I would like to try a pair of the Crispi Upland Pro's but I can't justify it. I had bought an extra pair of Irish Setter Wingshooter boots a few years ago on sale and recently started wearing them. They aren't the best boots but they are comfortable and work well enough. I also talked myself into a pair of the Schnee Kestrel's 6 months ago, so I already have 2 brand new pair of boots laying around to go along with 2 pair of my old bird hunting boots that are still usable. I probably have 10 different pairs of hunting boots in the house right now. Some are for deer hunting...others for elk, depending on temps and then I have boots just for birds. It's getting a bit ridiculous. I used to have 1 pair of boots for everything.

I eliminated just about all hunting except birds on the prairie on nice, dry days. That helped immensely.

I'm getting there. I used to go up to Canada for deer and I've stopped doing that. I am getting a bit old for elk hunting and I probably have 1 trip left in me before I give up that ghost. After that, hunting birds with my dogs will be the only thing between me and the nursing home.

Yup, as we get older and retired I tend to only hunt on nice, dry days also. No need to go out in crappy weather. I do get out some days in a little snow but that's about it.

Just chiming in on the Crispi upland pros. I bought them the day they came out and when they came in I instantly fell in love. Most comfortable boots I have ever worn! Wore them for a month or so at work and on some walks with the pup and I honestly can't see me owning anything else. This is my first pair of crispis, and the cost definitely hurt but ideally I get several years out of them so that doesn't hurt as bad then.

I've taken my dogs out to go the bathroom on some early mornings and the howling wind in SD convinced me to simply go back to bed.

I see they are right in the middle of their stiffness scale. How are they for side hilling? My pronghorns are getting worn out and I'll like a pair of boots that are slightly stuffer for chukar hunting but not to stiff for when I quail and pheasant hunt.

I use the Crispi waterproofing cream on my Lapponia 3’s and it seems to really help.

I ended up purchasing the Crispi Upland Pros.. They feel very similar to my Shimek's, which were 10/10 last season. Extremely comfortable out of the box (with some Superfeet insoles) and waterproof of course. Can't wait to put a couple hundred miles on them. Then again, I live for the days where it's too chilly for uninsulated boots and moreso too cold for most people to leave their house.
