Playing with patterns

Took the dogs to the river and brought along a Stevens 555 .410 that was my uncles. He would want a pheasant killed with it. I ordered trulok chokes for it Improved mod for Winchester diamond grade 7,5 turkey loads 3/4 ounce ( 11/16 weighed on the tube).
I am happy with the pattern. 75 percent at 30 yds. The first 2 shells printed high about 80/20. The third shell I shot a flatter bead to 70/30. I shot one shell from some old Remington express 3” 7.5s at 30yds. 120 some pellets on paper.
I picked up some fiocci tss turkey loads, my top barrel. 7 dollars a shell, I hope I don’t have to use very many of them.13/16ths I think. I shot 4 shells. Really heavy trigger. I think I was pulling the shot? I’ll have to check that out next time. Shot through a light mod Trulock tube. Trulock owes my a second back ordered light mod. I’m going to call and have them change it to a skeet. Wonder if it would be better still with cylinder. I don’t plan on stretching it out past 35yds.

Try some fed premium upland. Sometimes its not the chokes. I found some guns can be fussy about the shell. Just like a rifle. I had 4 629 black berettas I got rid of because they only liked some whimpy loads. and few of those.

Opinion needed. Is this to tight for late season birds. Its 156 pellets of #4 bizmerth in the 30" circle @ 40 . The sheet of paper is 3'x3'. Approximately 210 pellets per load. Idk enough about patterns.....idk wtf I'm doing. To me this is turkey load area. Bismuth bone crush ER choke. Again late season birds

I think that pattern looks fine for what your intentions are. Id want a turkey choke a little tighter personally but for late season roosters looks good. 20 yards-you may have a blown up bird. Lets face it, most of us shoot a ways past 40 yards now and then. Different settings and angles make birds look closer or farther than reality. The internet never seems to want to admit that.

It’s probably going to be a little tight at 30 yds but that’s a good pattern for 4s at 40 . Better than anything I’ve been able to get with 4s . I settled on lm /lm because the tighter chokes donuted at 40 for me The two birds I blew up last year were with muth 6s at short range.
Are those 1 3/8 th? Brand ?

Nothing is too tight for late season. Unless a guy is near pro level, you'll get some variances in pattern placement. I like the shoot the sheet method. Nail up an old sheet or big piece of paper with a dash of paint on it. Step back about 10 yards. Shoulder and shoot quick but not rushed until you get a hole blowed through. That's going to be your average placement. Flat or high, shoot enough clay and your brain will take care of the rest. Left or right and it goes down the road. As far as density, that's a personal choice. Overall mod or imp. and full early, full and extra full late is hard to beat. Realistically a 40-yard shot is iffy. If I could hunt them often, I would probably never take one.

I WISH I could get a pattern that looked like that. Hand rolled or factory loads? I am in the camp that believes we take shots further than what we think we do. I stepped off a few dead birds last year that I thought were 40-45 and they were all further than that by another choke. 74% at 40 gives you a killing pattern for when you drop a leg and knock feathers at 35 and get back on it at 50.

Its a hair under 1 3/8oz. Hand load. I started with 1 3/8 but was running into ugly fold crimps bc of the stack height.
