    Snacks, Meals?

Snacks are lanyager and cheese curds between hunting spots. Powerade or water. Usually full breakfast and pheasant dinner.

Pheasants Forever- SCAM or do they help upland hunters?

I support both organizations. I’m afraid that money talks and more money shouts. Nothing is ever all good or all bad.

Pheasants Forever- SCAM or do they help upland hunters?

Let’s leave the opinions at home and give the facts. What have you done for pheasants, ducks, grouse, etc. besides harvest them. Why can’t everyone be nice? Most of the money from DU goes to projects in Canada. Have you been there to see any? We can’t control the wind, but we can adjust our...

Know friends of friends who have purchased 80-120 acre farms down there. Yep, for deer, not birds. All are non-residents. 👎

Good summary wildcat. Often times the farmer would let us know before moving cattle to the prime pheasant cover. We appreciated the heads up and worked that ground while we could.

Ever gotten in trouble while outdoors alone?

Hunt the Chequamegon quite a bit. It’s lots of land and few roads with minimum trails. I now wear one compass and carry another. The river bottoms along the Mississippi get tricky too. The lure of success can cloud good judgement. Numerous close calls over the years. Getting there and...

    Bloody Nose

Mushers Secret often. Carry lip balm in your vest. Apply often. My dog starts the season with a black nose but ends with a more flesh colored nose.

how do you handle different shells for mixed bag?

It’s easy, I’m a pheasant hunter until I get four, then I’m a quail hunter. It works. Early season both birds in the CRP. Late season pheasants in CRP and quail in fence rows, thickets and creek banks. Speaking from Kansas.
