Boots at the first sign of the abrasions would have helped. Hard ground and dry conditions. Always worse in labs. Mushers too Rest and foot protection.

Staples are not recommended in tissue that is under tension. SubQ absorbable sutures would then be suggested overlayed by skin sutures. Most times staples should be thought of as a temporary fix in order to get to a vet. You can never be sure that you are not closing a deeper and infected...

Thin and warm gloves can do >20F, but colder than that takes a thicker glove with disposable heaters. I tried insulated golf gloves, didn’t help. Cross country ski gloves work for me when temps <20, even factoring wind chills. Thick gloves are the curse of double triggers. I lack good...
