  • Fortunatly I have had pretty good luck hunting public land. The key is to stay away from the hobbie farms around Moscow and find the older farmers with the larger pieces of land. Hunting on the Palouse has suffered the past 3 or so years, 10-15 years ago I used to shoot 75 roosters a year around Moscow and am now lucky to get 20....so I have been making annual treks to South Dakota to get my fix. Steelhead fishing on the Clearwater is still great. You do much sharptail hunting down your way?
God, I'm jealous. I used to fly fish for steelhead on the Clearwater a lot, and I would try to get some bird hunting in mid day. I never had any luck asking people to hunt on their land. You living there, you must have a few spots to go to. The bird hunting up there can be exceptional, if you can find a place to go.
