    Holyoke deer

Going to use my 7 non-resident deer points for a unit 98 rifle tag this fall. I've already got 2 land owners who are going to help me get a deer. We saw several nice bucks in the CRP while pheasant hunting last fall. Anyone else ever hunted out there before? I'll be hunting the edge of the...

    Hail

I just saw pictures from the hail out by Ovid yesterday. I feel bad for the farmers. The corn is just a solid stalk. No leaves left. It was so thick it looked like 6 inches of snow. The weather report I saw said they were egg sized hail. I imagine the pheasant casualty was also very high.

    Merry Christmas from Alaska

Merry Christmas to all you Colorado rooster hunters. I only get to hunt for a couple days a year in Phillips county and I enjoy reading your posts the remainder of the year. Be safe out there and good shooting.

    So long good girl

Toughest thing I ever had to do. I had to put my 15 year old Chessie down today. Twelve years ago I got her as an abused dog from Chesapeake Rescue. She was aggressive and gun shy. Over the next several years of working with her she became the best hunting dog/companion I ever had. I...

    Poudre Canyon

This is more of a big game question. I'll be heading down from Alaska to hunt deer in the Poudre Canyon. I've heard that the road is closed due to flood damage. Does anyone have any intel whether it's still closed and/or a prediction when it will open? Thanks.

    Youth hunt.....In March???

Must be tough to be a pheasant who just survived a 3 month hunting season and a tough winter just to be shot on a special youth hunt. Im not against a youth only hunt, but i sure wish they'd wait to do this stuff in the fall, maybe right before the general season begins. Oh well, that's the...

    Holyoke's chicken coop

And I thought there were a gob of birds on opening weekend. My Dad went out to the fields yesterday and said he saw more birds than he's ever seen. He reported seeing over 500 pheasants in the normal spots we hunt in. His friend who was with him shot 2 BOXES of shells. Makes me sort of wish...

    Heading south on Thursday

My son and I are heading south from rainy/snowy Alaska to Colorado for our annual deer hunt this weekend then out to Holyoke to jump some birds on opening weekend. This will be my sons first year jumping roosters and the farmer says there is lots of birds milling about waiting for us. Good...
