Hunted 10/27-10/30. 10 hunters. 8 in late 50’s-early 60’s and 2 young bucks.
Private ground. Same as last 20 years. CRP was tall and thick. Slews were tall and tough to bust through on old legs. Lots of standing corn on the farm and 75% of Beans harvested.
Our farmer always last in the county...

I’m not too worried about this rain. Had this happened when the majority of hens were still on Nests then yes but I think the bulk of the chicks are on the ground now and it’s not going be a cold rain so I think we’ll be OK.. any hens that are currently sitting on eggs. If those do get washed...
Happy Peak SD Pheasant Hatch!
June 10th is noted as the “peak” when hens are hatching their broods. Conditions are excellent at this point and we should see lots of birds come October. So let's raise a glass to the hens who allow us to all yell ROOSTER!!!!
Good Private land with spoil you. We have a big group so need many birds to keep the masses happy. If it’s just the two of you, public ground should be just fine. Scout after sunrise and hunt next to standing corn as birds will come back to grass to roost before sunset.
Now that the season is over, would you say your area had more, less or same amount of birds?
We hunted NC part of state private ground end of October.
I would say birds were up a little in our area despite lots of
corn still standing.
