Weather isn't cooperating

I was hoping to get out for another hunting trip this season but I am looking at weather forecasts and all I'm seeing are single digit or negative temps and snow. I've hunted in those temps before and it just doesn't work for me or my dogs. Just too frigin cold to hunt more than an hour or two. I've done it....I just don't enjoy it anymore. If I was local I would go out for a couple hours at a time but I'm not local. All day drive at a minimum or longer and a week in a local motel room.... for an hour or two of hunting a day in freezing temps?...not this year. Last time I did it, it seemed like a waste of time and money and it's hard on the dogs too. I'm thinking my season might be over.

Yeah, it looks like everything above interstate 70 or 80 is out for me.

If you're able to be flexible in your trips, I've got no doubt that we'll see some 40 degree days yet this season here in northeastern SD. And with the snow knocking the light grass down, the hunting will be stellar. I haven't given up hope for you.

I've been watching/waiting to get out again after a miserable post Thanksgiving weekend. The cold/snow hit a day early, which only allowed a couple hours to hunt when the snow let up slightly. Fortunately, I lucked into a small honey-hole with enough roosters to get 3 in the vest, and then the ride home on slick roads. Next week looks to be better as far as a bit warmer and no more snow. However, it's winter now in the north country, and you need to hunt whenever there is an opportunity. Because, a big snow and below zero temps could bring it all to a quick end any time. It seems every year now after the season ends that there were days I could have/should have been out there. That makes the winter even longer...

Yeah hopefully there's some good late season weather. Everybody always clamors for snow, but often enough it seems like too much falls and screws things up. Early season was really warm, about 2 weeks of good weather, then the arctic descent. I'm hoping to go this weekend. I need to write a list of spots down. With birds in thermal cover and cattail ice sketchy, it really narrows the spots.
