Hunting report, if any of you guys are looking for a good place to go for Pheasant and quail was just listed in the paper and my buddy who runs cattle and another that still works at the Co-op confirmed it.

Larned South to Haviland
west to:
Burdett South to Offerle then back east towards Haviland.

That area is seeing a super population explosion. I have my spots picked out by Meade but if your looking for a hot spot there you go.

I have been bird hunting the last 4 decades and I will always help hunters. I offer the same hunting deer or fishing. First rule in being a good person is helping others and helping. I take kiddos and Seniors out all the time on all kinds of hunts. The geographical area was already publicly listed and I figure if I can help out some enthusiast on here I would. That area is 1,024 square miles so hardly giving out anything specific.

Regards,
Matte

I have some contacts in that area too, their reports are not nearly as rosy. In fact, we've hunted that area the last three years for the opener. Disappointing to say the least. Hope this year's better. Unfortunately the CRP has been disappearing from area rapidly. This does not bode well for the long term. Personally, one of my contacts in the area has plowed up almost a full section of CRP (not contiguous).

Most birds are holding well to the sandhill areas and shelter belts. taking my kiddos out there youth season as I have hunted the area for about 15 years and always find birds. The quail last year were amazing just south of Kinsley.

Man, that was sure a good area back when we were going. There was a WIHA just east of Kinsley that seemed to always produce. Hunted it opening day in 2005 and it was so windy I couldn't hear the birds get up. They couldn't hear me walking either. Awesome that year. Haven't been back in a long time. Maybe next year....

That's about the best weekend to be in a tree. Hard for me to get away from the bowhunting.
