western Minnesota hunting

Hunters that travel many miles to western Minnesota to hunt public land do you have success? I have considered starting a hunting lodge and would like to know if there is demand for those looking for private land to hunt.

Good call, that was not my intent considering I haven't started a business yet. With all the people that wait in line at state wildlife areas, just want to know if there is potential for a hunting lodge.

I edited my original post, I realized it kind of was an advertisement considering I had lodge prices to see what people would pay.

I often shoot limits on public land, even in December. I doubt it would work here. You can get on private land fairly easy by politely asking. Unless you have a ton of land, you would also run out of wild birds and have to release pen raised half way through the season. I hope our hunting never becomes commercialized like neighboring states.

Yep. I have found that MN is so intensively farmed that public land just gets better as the land surrounding it turns to a black dirt sea. The harvest is running so strong and it is so dry this fall that most every field will become black dirt this year. Will not be much residual food for birds at this pace. :(

There are a couple of commercial pheasant outfitters in Minnesota right now that offer Wild Bird hunts. There was a land lease service running around here awhile back, most of the land they leased is now WPA, WMA and/or Walk-in. They failed.

Pay-to-play guys head mostly to SoDak.
