GoPro recommendations & accessories???

Knowing what you know now Steve, if you could write your wish list for a setup, what would it be now. How would it change from what you currently have?

Just thought I would add a few things.

I have a 4 Sliver, not wifi, but set for one button recording (this is key for not running down your batteries)

When I get out of the truck I put the unit on my head and look at my reflection in the window of the truck to make sure that the camera is pointing in the correct direction. It is easy to have it pointing to high or to low and you miss some of the action high or low.

When hunting the camera is off until the dog goes on point or sometimes if dealing with pheasants coming to the end of a field I may turn it on early.

But once the action is over I turn off the camera. (remember I am set up for one button recording).

Generally a battery will last me nearly all day, unless I forget to stop recording for a while after the action is over.
The other thing is that you can't move your head around much. Looking down at the ground while walking, turning your head side to side really makes the video tough to watch. While it doesn't look like much to our eyes in real life, its really jerky in the video.

The camera will pick up a fair amount of what you say, good and bad....

I use Movie Maker to edit my videos. It works and is free.

Its really a lot of fun to go back and look at what happened during your hunts. How the dogs did, how you hit or missed the bird.

The video on you computer is much better than what you see when it is loaded on line.

Some of my favorite ones.

I wouldn't change a thing to my setup at this point. I still have only the items I originally bought which was the GP Silver, headstrap, extra dual charger, 2 extra generic batteries, 64gb micro sd card and it'll do more than what I need it to do. No regrets buying this thing at all now... ;) I suppose if you twisted my arm I would consider trading you straight up for the little 20 or 28 ga o/v you bought this season. :D

Hope you had some success with your pooches this weekend and didn't get snowed in to bad. Later...

btw... thanks again to those who helped get me on my way a GP as well! Huge help...

ShotKam

Anyone use a a ShotKam? They are kind of spendy but they look pretty cool. They actually buffer the video and it only actually records the three seconds before the shot and three seconds following. Looks like a great training tool and also a better camera for getting good video of shots as it zooms in closer than the GoPro or the Muvi camera that I have.

GoPro has a app called studio and quick you can download to your desktop. I just bought a GoPro but have not used any of these programs yet. If you find a good one please post it and let us know.

anyone using the chest harness while bird hunting, I see from my videos i move my head alot. I hesitate in using chest harness as I think you would miss the video of the shot......I tried my best to not be looking all around but I see in some that didn't happen. Just curious and thanks. I like the gopro studio software so far still learning how to edit.

Glad you're liking the GP Studio... at some point I may look at something for kicks, but it's pretty good. Be sure to take a peak at the GoPro site or YouTube... there's a wealth of "how to" videos to help figure out how to edit, slowmo and all the other stuff. I hadn't had mine out since last season and forgot how to get the slowmo back up... lol
I planned on the chest harness until I got a lot of good info here and other places. I like that the camera is pointing everywhere I look... that seems to be the consensus from those who use it. You'll get used to slowing down your head movements and so on. The chest harness might but nice but I have no interest in one anymore.
Hope all is well MF! See ya...

Thanks Shawk, I just need to sit down and take the time to learn the editing process. Come home friday night and unwound over the weekend while getting things ready for winter and deer season opens tomorrow so time is little short.

I dont use the chest harness but every now and again I use the dog harness. The trick is to tie a string from the base of the camera to the dogs dollar too to make it less shaky. I dont do it very much because it has to be annoying to the dogs. Also, the iphone app really helped me. You can turn it on and off with your phone. And see what the video actually looks like so you can adjust accordingly.

Yeah I have the app on my Samsung phone too really like it for set up and stills. Don't like wifi on all the time as it runs the battery down.
