Youth waterfowl

I was hoping for someone to respond to this? I had the chance to visit with the DNR on Monday morning while goose hunting. And she said the only duck she saw taken from kids were wood ducks. From what I have seen duck numbers are way down this year.

I think we will continue to see duck numbers like this until the Dakotas have a 10 year drought. There is too much water in the Dakotas compared to 20 years ago when the flyway was directly over western and west central Minnesota. The migration was always the one thing Minnesotans could count on for some decent hunting. However, this year duck numbers in Canada are way down and numbers in the Dakotas are sky high. Should be interesting to see if anything changes.

Boy there was Mallards up the wazoo here this weekend. I know of one public that has a flooded field next to it with at least 1,000 mallards in it right now. People get the idea there are none, but it is always more talk of this when all the fields are flooded. You steel flingers just need to get away from the pot holes and get out in farm fields. There there

Are they local birds FC? or do you think some have started to travel south?

All the rain we have had around here the phez will have to grow web feet soon.

Nope all locals, and since I am not going I will spill the beans to someone hunting this area. They were there yesterday as well. It's about 2 miles from the house. I will get a pic tomorrow for something to do. I gave up qwack hunting when I started trialing as well:D Northerns won't be for quite a while yet. They seem to be hitting flooded beans and grass fields hard.
