Young birds flying pretty well

I've been taking the pup out a couple mornings a week for training and have been seeing fair numbers of birds (which is especially good for my part of eastern Iowa). They still all look like young hens for the most part, but today Abbie pointed a young rooster with a red cheek patch about the size of a nickel.

I was impressed that the surveys suggested huntable populations of birds in southeast Iowa as well. Maybe in a year or two I can do less driving and more hunting when I come out.:thumbsup:
