WIAs have been hit hard

New to the forum. Thought I would head as far as possible to Sedgwick WIA areas. All the areas I went to, mostly circle corners as it is just my 1 year old lab and me, have been worked over like an old wh*re based on tire tracks and boot prints everywhere. Saw 3 hens after 5 hours of beating the brush.

Guess I have to start knocking on doors or switch to geese now. Geese were piling in all morning.

I was out for the first time this weekend. I can say the same thing the WIA where plenty busy. Not sure if it is due to them now being free. If so I wish they would go back to the 20 dollar charge....Think I will take a few days off during the week to hunt to try and avoid the crowds.

Wia

Last week, I saw probably 30 birds about 50/50 roosters to hens in one WIA just south of Julesberg. But, and theres always a but, they flushed wild like a covey of quail and went to the next county.

I did jump 2 hens in a huge wia CRP field just south of Julesburg. It sounded like the 4th of July from a group to the west along a riparian area on private.

I went back out on Friday to the same areas I hit the weekend before. What a difference. I was the only one hunting the area I was in. I saw birds in about every field I hit. I should have had my limit by noon but my shooting was sub par. All in all the best day hunting pheasant in CO ever...
