Hello friend,
The pheasants will still be there as they are the breeding stock for next year. May I suggest you pre-scout any areas you intend to walk? The blizzard last week has left much ground very difficult to walk much less hunt. As far as dog work, best to leave fido at home. I would say 3/4 of the cover I hunt is impassible right now. Too many drifts and lack of cover. Majority of birds in my area are around farm groves until the snowpack lessens. It is difficult to gain permission for these areas unless you know the owners well.
Deer hunting in Iowa continues beyond the close of pheasant season on January 10th. You may have a situation occur but the chance of a larger group encircling you lessens as the days move forward. Good luck!
