I would like to give a HUGE thanks :10sign::thumbsup::cheers: to Chad "BleuBijou" for having my son and I out hunting with him this past Saturday. We went up a did some river waterfowl hunting for woodies on Saturday. It was the youth waterfowl opener. I got my son up at 0300hrs and myself Saturday morning. Drove couple of hours and met Chad. Who by the way is a pretty big boy :p At least my son thought so.;)

Colton didn't get anything, it wasn't for not trying though. Chad did the calling, I had Roxie our chocolate lab. Colton got plenty of shooting in, however he has never hunted waterfowl and they move a bit faster than pheasants. He did enjoy walking out in the river with his hip boots on.

So then we headed over to shoot some dove and I think that was the worst shooting performance of my life. Colton tooks some shots, but this was only his second time hunting dove and he soon realized that they are even faster than ducks.

Even though we didn't get anything we still had a good time and it is always good when I can get my son out hunting, away from the xbox and spending time with him, talking about girls and life in general. Heck, he even went to the truck at one time and took a nap:eek:

It is always good to meet up with guys from this forum and put faces with names. Again, thanks Chad and I hope we can do it again this year, especially for the waterfowl. I know Colton is looking forward to it. I just need to get him some warmer gear for when it gets cold.

Greg and Colton, it was great having you!!! Sorry the Bounty wasn't better!! I was surprised not too see at least 50 Woodies!!!! We probably had 5 Wood ducks that were shootable!! Colton gave them hell!!! Saw more morning doves then I expected, but less Eurasians then expected!!! I was doing good with a 4 for 4 and one nice double, but that 5th bird cost me some shells!!! That one Eurasian you smoked twice and then he flew to me and I blew a smoke of feathers out of him had to have on Kevlar!!!! He is still going I bet!!! Hope to get you up when it gets colder and we will hunt that warm water slough!!!! Thanks for a great Saturday!!!! Bleu:cheers:

Cool

Good for you guys. I will take both my boys (5 and 7) duck and pheasant hunting this fall/winter. They will observe and learn from my friends who have many years more experience then me. We started them on some local preserves over the last two years and they have done well. Now we will try the public land and full day adventures.

Good luck to all.

Chad,
You bet brother. Colton and I are looking forward to the opportunity to come back out and shoot some woodies and other ducks. I told Colton that it would probably be a little bit colder next time

I am just glad that there are guys out there like Chad still in today's world. Who are not so consumed with themselves and their own merits and such. Chad, you are good man.

Greg
