Wednesday out East

So I went back to Eastern Colorado on Wednesday to try for some more Pheasants. Got to the first WIA at 11:30 and less than five minutes out of the truck I bagged my first rooster of the day. I kept working that same field for another hour and jumped 3 more hens and 1 rooster that was out of range. I was supposed to meet a landowner at 2 so I took off and went to the cornfield he was harvesting and ended up helping by driving a tractor pulling a grain cart for two hours until his regular guy got there. Needless to say I now have permission to hunt on his land which is quite a bit. I left there at 4pm and went straight to a cornfield that I New hadn’t been cut yet and managed to get a second rooster and missed my third. Another great day.
Oh don’t pay attention to my mumbling I talk to myself a lot when hunting.

I usually don't post too often. I see far too much of the bad side of things where I hunt. Trespassing, trash, and uncourteous hunters. There are enough rants on that here that I don not need to contribute. This post changed some of that. I help a few farmers out a bit throughout the year. Its a pretty hard life for them and any little thing helps. If you take time out of hunting to help that really goes a long way as you found out. Glad you got on some birds and opened up some new land for yourself. It was a good video and your dogs work great. Wish mine retrieved that well. My Heidi just repoints dead birds and will sometimes retrieve those that have life left in them. Some of that standing dry land corn that I saw in your video has been good for me this season as well. All the corn on the private property I hunt should be all cut by the end of this weekend so I will have to find something new to hunt. Cant' wait until next year when some of the property goes through the transformation of getting back into CRP. Two fields will be standing milo.

Nice video.....thinking of getting a GoPro myself....I hunted land like you got access to in Kansas for years....through a local guy who I knew and I had helped with farming and doing other stuff and chores....

My issue is that I don't have the PTO/vacation time to take to knock on the doors....I hate doing it on just the weekends...

Thanks for sharing....

Nice dog work too....

Great video, Eddie. I have never hunted standing corn. You have inspired me. Well done! Dogs did great.
