Turkey Day Pheasant Hunt

I am thinking that this Turkey day, instead of sitting around munching on chips, drinking cold beer and watching football, I would walk some fields with my best friend instead. Has anyone chased ditch chickens on Turkey Day? What are the crowds like?
I hunted north of Holyoke on opening day, and it was beautiful. How have thinks looked in that area since? Anyone been to Yuma county recently?

Can't answer your questions pertaining to CO and turkey day pressure, but I for one go hunting every Thanksgiving. I don't like turkey nor runny poop from eating too much. I see other hunters, but typically they're not hunting all day and the crowds are nothing like the opener.

I have hunted a few Thanksgiving days and the crowds aren't bad. The crowds will pick up on Friday and Saturday but still not as bad as opening weekend.

I would say go for it!!!!

I have hunted the last two weekends in Phillips county and have averaged 2.5 birds a day. On the two days I limited out I was done by noon and then just worked the dogs for the other hunters. There are a lot of birds out there and I have been seeing a ton of hens and a good amount of roosters. It seems like on certain days I get into a lot of birds leaving the roost and heading to feed and it is easy hunting, the other two days I covered a lot of ground to get my 2 birds. The birds seem to be either holding really tight or flushing way out in front. No matter what it has been a great and fun start to the season.

Good luck hunting!
