Trip issues

Up early today pondering next weekends trip to SD. Bringing six dogs and three guys it seemed we had every detail worked out. Including two custom made wood kennels to accomodate all the dogs. Well the drivers vehicle (Ford one ton crew cab with an 8' box) developed a very costly repair issue last week. It's to the point that he's considering buying a new truck. Of course there is a very slim chance all this would come together by Wed. night. He has little kids so Halloween is out and our departure time is 5am Friday. My truck is a logistical nightmare with this set up. Chevy crew cab short box. One of the kennels was specially constructed to fit his truck. It simply won't work in mine.

Anyway thought it might be an interesting thread to here other hunters trip issues in the past.

Maybe not but share if you want.

We averted a potential trip disaster last week.

My truck's heater/defroster fan failed, the capacitor shorted out. :mad: It happened on the weekend and took until Tues afternoon before it was received by the dealer and quickly replaced. This was one of the largest dealers in NW Lower MI.

GLAD we weren't in "Nowheresville, South Dakota" on a hunting trip when we lost our heater/defroster! :eek:

"Nowhere's ville" is what I'm afraid of. He says we can still take his truck. The injectors are failing. If one goes it will flood the cylinder and burn it up. I really don't want to rent a Uhaul to get home. That is if we could find one.
 
Bro in law bought a new truck today and a topper through the dealer. Of course it won't be in for a couple weeks though. The dealer is going to try and work a deal with Radco to borrow one. We are checking with a few other topper shops to see if we can rent one.
 
good to know rob i may need to rent a topper for my ND trip & SD if i can make it... on average what they run for a WKs rental 5-7 days??? i will look them up quick to thanks for the info!!!

I just had a topper put on this week....I called like 10 places and the Radco in Blaine had a color match....I couldnt believe it! :)

Or I was going to have to take my Yukon over again and have to smell wet dogs all day....:D
