Training with Ella and George

I made a trip out to Colorado Blue Cliff Pheasants Saturday and used the Go Pro for the first time. Out of four hours of video I had probably 15 minutes of usable video. The rest of the time it’s either slanted or I’m viewing clouds.

Despite the the video we had a great day. We purchased 12 pheasants and went home with 19. The cover is great there and really gave the dogs a workout. My 9 month old golden (George) did great he was hesitant to retrieve live pheasants at first but by the end of the day he looked like he had been doing in all along. Ella who is my 1 1/2 year old Vizsla/lab mix started off a little to eager and would not hold her point but like George by the end of the day she was solid as a rock. Considering that I have no experience at all with training I feel that they are doing great and are going to be excellent by the end of this season.

Great stuff. Thank you for sharing. Please try lowering the GoPro a bit so we can see more dog work. Have great season with Ella and George,

Yea I didn't realize that you could not see the dogs the way the camera was set up. It will be right next time. But honestly the cover for the most part was so thick that we could not see the dogs except for the Milo heads moving as the dogs went through it. This was great for the dogs making them really have to work though the thick stuff to find the birds. Its going to be a good year. The videos that I linked were from when we first got there and hadn't gone into the fields yet, after that you can see nothing but clouds. Live and learn! I was too intent on watching the dogs and I didn't pay attention to the camera.

Great videos Eddie....

I found the same learning curve when I started out with my GoPro. My first video was of the Kansas sky and all the pretty clouds. I also have a few videos of about ten feet in front of me. I finally go it right and marked the attachment with paint so it lines up every time. I bought a chest mount I am going to try this year. Saw one used on one of the upland outdoor shows.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. Cover out there looks good. How much huntable property do they have?
The milo is really thick and the birds that other hunters miss stay in the cover and become wild very fast. They have probably 200 acres of milo and 400 acres of thick prairie grass. It felt like we were hunting wild birds because of the cover and how well the birds flew.
