By the time my feet hit the ground that I would hunt it was already 930 am. Got alot later start then I wanted. I tried a spot in Bremer that we have seen birds in everytime we go. Not a think today! Lots of deer were kicked up.
I moved over to another spot that looked really good around the Wapsi. This was a pretty good track that had cover, water and cut corn and standing corn. There were a few time that the dogs really picked up and worked something really hard. But nothing ever came of it.
So the last place we hit, was kind of the same deal, bu there was alot more water around it. This time we were able to get two hens up, about 300 black birds and a few crows.
The black birds were kinda funny as the dogs are stop to flush trained and to see them stop to flush on those was kind of diffrent. I get the same response with deer flushes to.
Anyway, we ended our hunt at 315pm, according to the Garmin, 22 miles was logged on Max's collar and 12 on Abby's. I guess I took her off of the injured reserve list to soon.
We decided to leave when the first shotgunner came walking in the field.
It was good to get out and I think that I may just have to buy a perserve hunt to reward the lad for his patients.Just go tip something over for him.
