Tough day Sat.

Buddy and I left Topeka 4:30am Sat. morning to head out to Beloit for a quick one day hunt on walk in. Was a tough day, only saw one rooster 150 yards down the CRP. Did see a lot of hens though. Was a good trip however as my GSP got into several birds and pointed and flushed great; he is only 1.5 years and I am more concerned about getting him as much experience as possible. Spoke to some locals at lunch and seemed that the birds in the Beloit/Downs area was pretty slim this year. Hopefully with all the hens we kicked up there will be some good hatches next year and recover quickly. Looking to take another quick trip in couple weeks to SW KS. Possibly Garden City area or Pratt area.

Any suggestions between the 2 areas?
 
the birds are there you just didnt see them i know the area well and there are tons of birds there.Quaul though are kind of sparse thats what i like working a dog on
 
Pratt hunt

Hunted around Pratt 4 days the week of Thanksgiving. Did much better south of Pratt thatn north of Pratt. Good luck!
