Driving down the road yesterday East of Fort Lupton.Saw something where I had to do a double take. Stopped and saw five roosters in a group on the shoulder . Several were non mature birds. The tail feathers were maybe 10" long. Was not able to get all five in the picture frame. Kind of lifted my spirits since I have been hearing a lot of negatives about the drought. These birds had irrigated alfalfa right across the street.I consider the glass being half full rather than half empty. Am thankful I am going to able to pound boot leather soon and work the dog and get some fresh air chasing roosters in NE Colorado.
I'm up for the challenge. Need to do some scouting soon and narrow down areas that have potential.

Nice pic...thanks for sharing and I hope that things are not as bad as what they may appear.

Great news.....

With all of the negative posts, I needed some hope. Pride and I are planning to be in the fields from opening day to January 31, 2013. We generally leave at 4 am on Sunday and arrive back home around 7 pm. I plan on puttting 5,000 miles on the truck this season, with the hope of limiting out on a few trips.

Yes siree... That looks like the ones we are looking for.... :) Hope they get some more color and some longer tails.....

Thanks for posting!! This is exactly the kind of thing I hope to see in the KS forum soon. Even on bad years, there are usually a few birds around to freshen up tired legs:thumbsup:
