The Dream!

Like many of you here I am obsessed with pheasant hunting. It is who I am and what I do. Growing up in New Jersey has definitely hindered my ability to get outdoors especially when it comes to pheasant hunting. Luckily, Pennsylvania is close by and that's where I grew up "hunting" so to speak. Many people dream of deer camp, I was different, I dreamed of pheasant camp. It was because of this that I turned my attention to the midwest and great plains, I began researching different states and what they had to offer and quickly began dreaming of owning land of my own someday and having wild ringneck pheasants. Out of all the states, I have to say I like Minnesota the best. I know other states have more pheasants but for the type of hunting I do and all the other things I enjoy Minnesota fit's the bill.

So there you have it, I wanted to introduce myself to those of you in this forum because I plan to contribute some in the future because I hope to one day have my pheasant camp here in Minnesota. Who know's what life has in store for me but it doesn't hurt to dream and hopefully in the future I will be spending some time in Minnesota! My trip to Minnesota fell thru a couple of years ago so I have to see about planning another one! In the mean time my father and I have been making our own traditions in PA. Check out the thread "Pheasant Camp!" if your interested. The Game Commission has done a tremendous amount of work in the state to keep the tradition of pheasant hunting alive! It's mostly put and take with some holdovers where cover is good and if you do your homework there is a few wild birds to be had but no where near the scale of what you guys have.

Look forward to contributing in the future and hey you never know..we will see what happens!

All in all this is a great state. I would say we are the best state for Rough Grouse and we do a pretty good job at the rest. Fishing is great we even have some good trout fishing in the SE Drift-less area. Deer hunting is pretty good and we have pheasants if you know were to look. Maybe instead of buying a pc of land you should just move here:thumbsup: If you ever come here to hunt some pheasants let me know I can give you some spots that have always produced for me.

Welcome to the board. MN is a great all around outdoor state and probably better for pheasants than some (including myself) give it credit for.

Hope you realize your dream. I visited MN on a couple of fishing trips with my family way back in high school. From that experience alone I always thought I would move here if the opportunity presented itself. That opportunity ultimately came to be and I have lived here for 17-years and am enjoying every minute.
