Never been to SD before, but would like to spend Thanksgiving week up there this year. Any recommendations for towns to stay in with good public land access?

Do you have OnX that you can get a macro look at public land? Almost all towns E of the river are very hunter friendly. It depends on what your needs are

Ive got one dog and would be hunting solo. Willing and able to walk as far as needed to get on birds.

As above, lots of little towns, lots of public hunting. You can cold roll in east SoDak and have a ball.
