Sunday, 11/29 Hunt - A success!

Was feeling ambitious and decided to take my mother and my three kids out yesterday afternoon, for a short hunt.

Given my youngest just turned 5, I knew we'd be limited to edges and couldn't spend too much time in the truck. I wondered which would win out . . . close proximity and easy walking versus my ability to bag a bird. Luck would need be had, and I'd say we realized such!

One field, 15-20 minutes of walking, 11 hens, 1 rooster, and lots of smiles. Rain started just after we finished snapping these photos. I'm not sure the timing could have been more perfect.

We closed the outing at McDonald's for some hamburgers and hot chocolate. Hey, that's what they wanted ...

Wonderful!

That is great stuff right there Nate!:)

I have many fond memories of our boys in the field and you know of the "monster" I created in our youngest! That is another story.

I noticed Mom wasn't "packing" on this hunt. I am sure you didn't wish her to show you up in front of the kids!:p

Sophie loves a cheeseburger and a little Jason Aldean after a great hunt! I believe your children and she have something in common.

Great to see children in the field enjoying our sport! Congratulations!:10sign:

That's a nice crew to hunt with for a lot of years to come. Great memories they will always keep!

What a great day you had!

I used to take my daughters out with me when they were young. We'd walk trails and have the dog hunt alongside. I shot birds with them along and they'd always cheer the dog. We'd walk some, then go have a juice box down by the creek and let them skip stones in the water. I remember one time the youngest got wet feet, could hardly feel her toes and never said a word. She might have been 5-6. Was having fun despite the cold feet and didn't want to ruin it by having me quit. Those are good memories.
