Strange Deer Encounter

This past Sunday while hunting in NC Iowa, we came across a deer that was acting very strange.

My dog approached the deer directly and I called her off. I had her sit and took a photo.

The deer was near a water source and if you look closely there is snot and drool dripping from its nostrils and mouth. I suspect it is suffering from EHD.

Cronic wasting disease? Blue tung? I'm not sure of the correct term. We had it bad in Indiana. I found tons dead ones in or around water. Biologists said the spread was accelerated by feeders and mineral/salt blocks. I think there are still cases, but the populations have rebounded now.

Sounds like Blue Tongue. A couple years ago it hit hard south of Dickinson. We were finding dead whitetails while pheasant hunting, often laying in a water source. Never came across a dead mulie, so I suspect it only hits whitetails...
