Still dove huntin'?

Anybody still shooting dove in E KS?

A guy I work with said I needed to get out again, that he'd been out last night and saw a good # of birds. I guess the boys and I will get out and try to shoot what's left of the NT shot we bought for the season:thumbsup:

Kb- yep still dove hunting..took the wife out on opening day for her first ever hunt and she killed her first dove with a clean head shot. I just stood there in shock when i picked the dove up and it had no head lol. she has begged me to go nearly every day after work and both days of the weekend. Who am i to tell her no haha..gee twist my arm lol...we did go out sunday here between lawrence and topeka. I shot 8 and she got 5..they were flying real fast with the wind so it was a little more difficult for her to shoot but we are still seeing them here.

That's great bc! I can't get mine to go. I'm green with envy...a man can't get any luckier than having a woman who "nags" at you to take her hunting or fishing:10sign: Well, unless you have one that not only begs to go, but whose family also happens to own 10k acres or so:rolleyes:

Yes..even after 17 years she still seems to surprise and amaze me sometime..i have had to keep pinching myself to make sue i wasn't dreaming. She is watching all the pheasant hunting shows she can to get ready for this upcoming season. I think she may be more excited than i am about this upcoming season. She does not want to go opening weekend since there will be a couple thousand people it seems where we hunt which you know where that is. So we have a trip planned for her and i to go back out there thanksgiving weekend. I feel like i have hit the lottery lol

BC my wife is best. She helped clean the doves she shot. I kept throwing Turtle jr and my doves in her pile. No shit. She even told me to pick out a new shotgun for me. She said she is going to cut the stock off a little on mine for her new gun. So guess I will be getting a new shooter thus weekend.

Turtle that is always a good excuse forna new gun..my wife is shooting my old winchester 1400 that my grandfather gave me. She says her christmas present this year will be a new beretta shotgun lol

No dove were harmed in our afternoon walk. We saw 4 birds. The temp must have dropped 10 degrees from the house to the field. A doe and a fawn stayed long enough to give my daughter a good look. We passed a pack of goats roaming along the road. Also spotted today was a fox and a bobcat. Throw in an owl and a BUNCH of grasshoppers and a "failed" dove hunt turned into a day of mini-adventures:)

BC your wife has good taste. I already found a slightly shot 390 with the b80 browning mid hump receiver. Not the round back, that's the one wifey is cutting the stock on. Want to say it is a super sporting? Widow lady I cut wood for showed it to me yesterday. Had one years ago and traded it for a Browning gold. Guess I will have one again. Not trying to steal thread. Doves are spotty here in misery but have one large bunch north of my house we have left alone that we are going after Saturday morning. Taking a bunch of novices from hunter safety class. Their reward for passing. Have bought the 10 cases of shells. Will also have the trap ready and clays on stand by. Turtle jrs girlfriend will be in attendance. He broke out his 870 youth model for her. She is coming out tomorrow after school for some clays practice. Mrs t will chaperone.

still here

hunted Norton area parts of three days with pastor john and his mutt. saw a lot of birds, one guy we met said most of them had already left, would be hard to believe how many were around before we got there then. we did really well
