Hey all, A buddy of mine and I want to make the trek up from Arizona to do some pheasant hunting. Got a new dog and he is itching to get out. Can anyone tell me how the hunting is in Baca County this season? Any tips and advice would be much appreciated.

stay home, save the gas and hunt a preserve.

SE colorado will be tough for pheasants. There's better quail numbers than pheasant this year and even the quail hunting is poor. I'd stay home and chase quail around Tucson.

I just spent more than a week in Baca County...Worst conditions I have ever seen! Your desert areas of AZ likely have better cover!:(

Remember, Baca Cty was actually the dead geographic center of the main dust bowl area of the 1930's. This last year was actually the worst year on record for moisture and heat! Worst than any year in the 30's dust bowl years and since records have been kept! (I think since like 1895 or something)

For phezzies, head further north for sure.

Now, I will differ on the quail. I found more than I ever have before!

While deer hunting I ran across several very large coveys of these little beauties!

I'll even show you where...A couple I found right here!

Seriously though, if you would be interested in some scallies, PM me and I'll let you know where I found a few coveys.
