South Dakota "reality"

While scouting/hunting in the middle of nowhere on a "back trail" near Eureka, I came across a "photo" that just had to be taken.

"old and forgotten"

May I use your photo?

Jim Boyer;

My I use your photo "old and forgotten" in my High school American History classes? It is a great picture that shows how the Northwest Ordnance set a side land for the educational use. Thanks for sharing.

As a retired teacher, I am happy the picture "works" for you. By all means use it. Thanks for asking!

The visible horizon in the background of the picture extends 360º around the building. It's "stunningly stark".

Here's a tighter crop to use (if necessary).

That picture jogs some memory cells. I think I have seen that in person. Will PM you with a guess regarding the location.

COLD! It looks like the prarie might have been a very cold place 100 years ago. That building must be very stong to have lasted so long in such a wide open space. Great pic and thanks for sharing.

Went by that school house tuesday out there SW. of Eureka. Kind of makes you wonder where the kids lived that went to that old school as there not any places around. Must have been some a long while back.

Yep, when I was snapping photos, thoughts about what kind of stories were left behind.....and lost forever were on my mind. Maybe it's time to do some research? :D

I've also been by this building the last 5-6yrs hope to be near there next week whenever I see one of these old buildings I always wonder how difficult it must have been to live there.
