So Few Birds

On Saturday my huntin' buddy and I walked eight miles in NW in six historically productive fields. We saw 18 pheasants and no quail. He fired two shots, I fired one. He wants to quit for the season to leave the few birds as breeding stock.

Dangit BC, that ain't good. On the flip side, if you hunt a part of the state that never has many birds, 18 in one trip is purdy darn good:D

If you get back out, I hope your fortune improves!

My experience this past weekend was similar in numbers, but opposite in interpretation. We saw more birds than expected, but definitely not a lot. This was in an area that is one the edge of pheasant range, so I was happy with the day.

Join the club! Join the club! For the last four years here in IOWA if we see 18 birds in a week that is a very positive thing!:)

We are all unfortunately heading in the same direction concerning the birds.
