Seed farm

Headed to fertile MN today to look at all the various cover types. They grow many different kinds. I am re thinking my field since I have time. With my soil I guess the switch grass I was talked into can get 7' tall. Not what I want. Going to look at Dakota switch, and a bunch of others. It will be neat to see them in the environment.

FC, do you know the name of that 7' switch grass? I'd like to get some if possible.

Thanks. 1pheas4

Well he did exagerate a bit, he is a short guy. But it was 5' high. It was Forestburg. There are taller thicker varity's then that though. I will ask him what those are. I tell you what, if you are doing a planting. I would recomend going to a farm where different varities are grown. It was really cool. Now I am changing all togeather. I have 2 types of little blue, a touch of big MN native blue, a touch of flowers, and a touch of dakotah switch. I will put the forestburg on the north edge heavy to catch the snow. That stuff he grew was beautiful. Sure looked like great bird country. But he said they don't have squat for birds.

Thanks for your reply FC. I'll get online and see if we have any grass farms like the one your describeing in our area. I'll be honest, I never new there were varieties of switch, blue stem, etc. Cool stuff! Thanks again for the info FC.:)
