Two weeks until the opener! Can't wait. Murphy is in great shape. He is in his 5th year and last year was one of his best. I don't think he made a mistake all year. It was just great.

I didn't post this last year. I tend to get busy and forget. But we were in one of my favorite blue grouse areas, but hunting along an aspen grove I hadn't worked much. I lost track of his bell. Thought he was up the hill so started humping up. Nothing. He has a white tail and points tail up, so he is generally visible. But nothing. I humped around and then finally called out softly. Nothing. I whistled and behind me about 75 yards 10 blues go busting out. Murphy finally moved when I whistled. He'd been on point for probably 5-6 minutes. I was so proud of him.

Makes me think about training him to stay on point with a locator beeper.

Anyway, good luck all. Season's almost here.

I have threaten to do it for years and I believe this year I will get out and hike for some blues, before me and my dog get to old.
