Had a great trip to South Dakota again, good people friends and birds.. my thoughts.
We target chickens and sharpies primarily and numbers were very solid. Managed a grouse limit 2 of the 4 days, found some 60-80 count chicken flushes but made hay on the stragglers. Hunted a place one day that is primarily sharpies and did not disappoint, saw 100 plus and as a group brought 11 back to the truck, highlighted by a point from my young dog were a friend and I both shot a double on the rise.
Pheasant numbers were solid and aided by majority of the crops being out, spotted a lot more birds on the move looking for cover. We took a pheasant walk each day at power hour on the way home. Numbers were good.
Never ran into another hunter in the field or parking lot in 4 days, all public land!
