S. WI weather

My Dad was saying S. Wisconsin got hit hard by flooding rains last week. He said something like 3-4 inches of rain in a half hour (Not sure he had this right or not) Very bad flooding in fields. Creeks turned into lakes.

Doesn't sound good for nesting birds out that way:(

Any news on the matter?

I don't know the exact rain totals but here in west central wi we have standing water wpa's that I pheasant hunt, can't imagine things are going to turn out good. Rivers and creeks are higher than typical spring flooding.
I've planted my food plot up north twice now, I went up last Friday to spray a field, I went to see if it was growing.....
Almost didn't make it to the plot, trails were flooded
Once there my plot was a pond, about 2" of standing water
Looks like if it dries out I'll get to do it a third time this year!

I live in Southern Dodge Cty. and everything looks good as far as the nesting season goes.....so far at least.

Sounds like a mixed bag up there for you guys. Some good news some not so good. Best of luck to those wild WI pheasant hens on the nest.:)

we got a little over an inch overnight. Steady rain not a deluge.
I have a duck sitting on 6 eggs under my light pole next to my driveway. Its tons of fun keeping 2 Goldens away from the nest!! Dumb ducks

Tonight TV weather guy said that we've have @14 inches so far, compared to 22 inches or so last year in SW Wisconsin.

More than "normal," but just weather variation.

well that was short lived. 6 eggs yesterday, 3 this morning and none when I got home tonight. I watched the hen fight off a crow early this morning. I guess the crows won :(

Bummer.:( That would've made for some easy hunting this fall:D----right out your back door.

There was a hen mallard which nested across the street (next to a house). She was lucky and managed to pull it off. But for some reason we don't have raccoons, possums, skunks, etc around here:confused:. I'm thinking that helped a bit to her success!
